Treatment and filling of children's teeth
Treatment and Filling of Children's Teeth are essential dental procedures aimed at maintaining your child’s oral health. Early diagnosis and timely treatment of cavities and other dental issues help prevent serious complications and preserve healthy teeth.
Benefits of Treating and Filling Children's Teeth:
- Preservation of dental health: Treating cavities and other conditions prevents further tooth decay and the spread of infections.
- Pain relief: Timely treatment eliminates discomfort and pain, improving your child’s overall well-being.
- Aesthetic improvement: Fillings restore the natural appearance of teeth, ensuring a healthy and even smile.
- Formation of healthy habits: Teaching children proper oral hygiene helps establish lifelong care routines.
Stages of Treatment and Filling:
Consultation with a Pediatric Dentist
The first step includes an examination of your child’s oral cavity, assessment of dental health, and development of a treatment plan. The dentist also discusses possible treatment options with parents.
Anesthesia
To ensure a pain-free experience, local anesthetic is used, providing maximum comfort during the procedure.
Cavity Cleaning
The dentist removes the decayed tissue, cleans the cavity, and prepares it for the filling.
Tooth Filling
The filling material is applied, shaped, and hardened. The dentist carefully sculpts the filling to ensure a natural look and proper fit.
Final Polishing
After the filling is set, it is polished to achieve smoothness and ensure comfort for the child.
Types of Filling Materials Used in Our Clinic:
Glass Ionomer Fillings
Used for baby teeth. These fillings release fluoride, strengthening enamel and helping prevent further decay.
Composite Fillings
Used for permanent teeth. They are durable and aesthetically pleasing, closely matching the natural tooth color.
Cavity Prevention Tips:
Proper oral hygiene: Brush teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
Healthy diet: Limit sugary snacks and drinks.
Regular dental check-ups: Preventive exams and professional cleanings every 6 months.

Do they treat children under sedation at Gallant Dental Clinic?
Yes
What kind of fillings are used for baby teeth?
The most commonly used materials for fillings include:
- Light-cured composite materials – Known for their high durability and a wide range of shades, allowing the dentist to match the colour of the filling to the natural tooth for a seamless appearance. These fillings harden under a UV light and typically last from 5 to 15 years, which is why they're often referred to as “light-cured fillings.”
- Composite materials – These are multi-component mixtures that the dentist blends right before applying the filling. Compared to pre-made light-cured pastes, these composites offer greater plasticity, which helps the dentist recreate the natural shape of the tooth more precisely.
- Glass ionomer materials – These contain fluoride, which is gradually released for up to a year after the filling is placed. This fluoride release helps protect the tooth from recurrent decay. Glass ionomer fillings also bond strongly to the tooth structure, making them ideal for use in paediatric dentistry. They are not only used for fillings but also for fissure sealing.
Do baby teeth need to be treated?
Baby teeth need to be treated just like permanent ones, this helps prevent their premature loss and the development of an incorrect bite, as well as preserves the space for the permanent teeth to erupt properly.
How are baby teeth filled?
Filling of baby teeth is performed when a cavity has formed due to tooth decay.
The decayed tissues are removed, after which the canals are filled and the tooth’s shape is restored using composite materials.
Testimonials
Good afternoon! Over the past two weeks, our daughter received dental treatment from the pediatric dentist, and we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing care and attention she received from the entire staff. The doctor immediately found the right approach to her. Everything was done perfectly. We are very satisfied, and our daughter kept asking when we were going back to Gallant — she just couldn’t wait for her next visit.
A big thank you — wonderful clinic, highly recommended! 🌟
